New DMB CD - Stand Up

Any thoughts / comments on the new Dave Matthews Band CD and Carter's drumming on it? I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it in here yet.

Overall I think it's a bit of a let-down, like the last one - but Carter has his moments, as always.

Yeah, me neither. I loved the first CD. After seeing them live, and hearing a couple more CDs, I was done with them. They bore me to tears now. Next.... [img]graemlins/thinking.gif[/img]

I must admit I can't stand DMB. I think it's great that he has a band of talented musicians, but I refuse to buy their records.

Has anyone here seen Jimmy Fallon imitate Dave on Celebrity Jeopardy? Well he does a darn good job and manages to perfectly illustrate why I can't stand his music.

I agree with everything you posters said.
DM was on Leno a while back, is quite the strange bird, is he not. & that's just the singing. It was orig, unique, & diff at first, but...

The band is very good, as is CBeau. [IMO CB makes the band]

The first couple of albums were nice & interesting, as was the live dbl-disc Listener Supported, w good playing; & now, well...I'm done here.

I think that aft all the enlightened college hubbub has eventually waned, peeps & comedians will be poking fun at him for many years aft it subsides, maybe? /;cp

I think DM & Bjork should do a disc together, & call it, As Weird As it Gets. But them having children is OUT of the question..we have plenty of peculiarOs running around the place...[i think their kids would be a cross somewhere between a valley girl, stoner, Phoebe on Friends, Robin Williams, & Jim Carrey...oh, & Carl Sagan]...

My impersonation is almost as good as Fallon's, but not quite.
But it's still funny.
It's just doesn't smell dead.

I was at RCA's end of year celebration the year DMB's debut came out. The president was speaking about the year's successes, including DMB. He said something like when he first heard the band, he "just didn't get it", and didn't want to sign them, but in the end he was talked into it by the A&R guy and he was grateful because it was their biggest seller that year. Something like that.

I'm not a fan either- but Carter's great, no doubt.

DMB is on Letterman tonight for those interested...
